  1.                                AMIGA ARCHIVE FILES
  2.  
  3.         Most programs that you'll download from a bbs for the Amiga will be
  4. archived.  These are programs that have been compressed to take less disk
  5. space and transmission time.  The archived files have to be expanded back
  6. to normal before they can be used.
  7.         Among the programs used to compress and expand files are PKAZIP,
  8. LHARC, ARC, ZOO, WARP, etc.  Files that have been compressed with these
  9. usually have names that end with ZIP, LHZ, ARC, ZOO, WRP, etc.  An example
  10. is PICTURE.LHZ.  To expand this file, you would need a program called LHARC.
  11. You would type, from the CLI:    LHARC E PICTURE     and the archive would
  12. create one or more files that you could then use.
  13.         Most Amiga programs MUST be archived before transmission or they
  14. will not run when received.
